A leading furniture manufacturer in Kingston upon Hull is seeking a Drawing Office Manager to lead the drawing and design function. The candidate will manage a team, oversee production workflows, and integrate new design software. Ideal candidates have strong CAD knowledge, leadership skills, and experience in manufacturing environments.
Role Overview
Lab Systems Furniture are seeking an experienced and motivated Drawing Office Manager to lead and coordinate our drawing and design function. The successful candidate will oversee a small team of CAD technicians/designers and be responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate workflows from order through to manufacture. A key element of the role will involve the development and integration of new cabinet designs and CAD/CAM design software, improving both design capability and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage and lead a small team of staff in the drawing office, ensuring workloads are allocated effectively and deadlines are met. Delivering the highest standards of accuracy, consistency and detail.
·Oversee the complete workflow from sales/order intake to manufacture, ensuring accurate production drawings and setting out.
·Liaise with production, sales, and installation teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
·To act as key point of contact between customers and LSF.
·Lead the design and integration of new product ranges, particularly cabinet systems, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with industry standards.
·Spearhead the integration and rollout of CAD/CAM design software, collaborating with production and IT teams to align systems.
·Ensure that drawing office standards & procedures, are maintained and improved where necessary.
·Provide training, mentoring, and support to team members as needed.
Required Experience and Skills
·Proven experience in a similar role within manufacturing, construction, or bespoke joinery/furniture environments.
·Strong knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD essential; SolidWorks or similar an advantage).
·Strong understanding of technical drawing standards, setting out, and manufacturing principles.
·Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
·Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
