Job description

Drawing Management Co-Ordinator / Draftsperson - St. Fergus (Hybrid) - £40,500 to £51,500

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

Join us, and help be the energy behind the change.

About the role:
We’re looking for a Drawing Management Co-Ordinator to support the delivery of our drawing management strategy for Gas Transmission. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that accurate and up-to-date engineering drawings are maintained, reviewed, and made accessible to all stakeholders. You will work closely with operations, sites, and capital projects to provide technical support and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory obligations.

In addition to business-as-usual (BAU) drawing management responsibilities, this role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a new digital transformation initiative - the Digital Construction & Investment (DC&I) project. DC&I is a game-changing initiative that aims to migrate drawing management into a Common Data Environment (CDE) using ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud), setting the foundation for a fully digital approach to site asset management.

You’ll work closely with our Drawings Migration Lead to support the pilot implementation of St. Fergus as a fully digital site within ACC, paving the way for a future Digital Twin model. The success of this project will establish a roadmap for over 600 National Gas sites to adopt modernised, digital drawing management processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a custodian of gas transmission engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accessibility.
  2. Work closely with operations and projects to review, upload, and update drawings for capital schemes and site-managed projects.
  3. Support the DC&I Project, ensuring the successful migration of drawings into ACC as part of the St. Fergus pilot.
  4. Help define user roles, approval workflows, and assurance processes within ACC.
  5. Assist in testing and validating drawing management functionality within the CDE environment.
  6. Provide technical support to internal teams and external providers on drawing management best practices.
  7. Conduct assurance reviews to improve the quality and integrity of drawings.
  8. Identify and drive process improvements in drawing management to align with industry standards and digital transformation goals.

This is more than just a drawing management role - it’s an opportunity to be part of a major digital transformation in the way National Gas manages its engineering data. By supporting the DC&I project, you’ll contribute to creating a future-proofed digital asset management system that improves efficiency, compliance, and operational effectiveness across our sites.

What we're looking for:
Essential -
  1. Experience in using Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD software
  2. Knowledge of BIM and AutoDesk Revit
  3. Experience in drawing management within an engineering, construction, or asset management environment
  4. Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and assurance processes
  5. Experience using SharePoint
  6. Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with project engineers and managers
  7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  8. Ability to work both independently on BAU tasks and collaboratively on strategic projects

Desirable -
  1. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or similar digital asset management tools (CDE)
  2. HNC/HND level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering, business or IS/IT related discipline

What we can offer you:
  1. Annual bonus of up to 6% based on personal and company performance
  2. 26 days’ holiday plus statutory holidays - option available to buy extra holiday days
  3. Generous double-match pension scheme - for every £1 you put in, we'll add £2 (max company contribution 12%)
  4. Flexible benefit scheme, including private healthcare, dental insurance, technology plans and more
  5. Financial protection with 10x salary death in service and financial support if you're unable to work due to long term illness or injury
  6. Excellent family friendly provisions - maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental leave
  7. Career progression, professional training and development - including access to LinkedIn Learning
  8. Employee assistance programme offering free confidential professional counselling 24/7
  9. Financial support to help you cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions
