Job description

Our client, a specialist building envelope contractor with over 40 years of experience, is seeking a Draughtsperson to join their design team. This position can be based from either their head office in Staines-upon-Thames or their Darlington office. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and detailing of roofing and cladding systems across a wide range of commercial projects.


This is a great opportunity for someone with technical drawing experience in the construction industry to join an established and forward-thinking team.


Draughtsperson - Benefits

  • Salary: £35k - £43k - Potentially more dependent on experience.
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Monday - Thursday: 8am - 5pm, Friday: 8am - 4pm

Draughtsperson - Role Overview

  1. Produce detailed drawings, general arrangements, and material schedules for roofing and cladding systems
  2. Interpret project specifications, tender documentation, and enquiry drawings
  3. Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to obtain necessary design information
  4. Attend design meetings and project handovers
  5. Identify variations and update drawings accordingly
  6. Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for specialist design elements
  7. Review and update as-built drawings as required
  8. Support and mentor junior design staff when needed

Draughtsperson - Requirements

  1. HNC or equivalent in a design-related subject
  2. Previous experience in a design or draughting role within construction
  3. Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with 3D software is desirable
  4. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  6. Familiarity with roofing and cladding systems is highly beneficial, including flat roofing, metal roofing, rainscreen cladding, and composite panels
