The Opportunity

A vibrant and progressive independent school is seeking a Drama Teacher to join its innovative Performing Arts department from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to shape a dynamic and inclusive drama curriculum in a school that values creativity, individuality, and student expression.

As a Drama Teacher, you will deliver engaging and imaginative lessons across Key Stages 3 5, supporting students to explore voice, movement, theatre-making, and the power of performance. With access to excellent facilities, student-led projects, and regular productions, you ll play a central role in the cultural life of the school.

About the School

This is not your typical independent school. Set in a beautiful green campus near St Albans, the school is known for its forward-thinking approach to education, where the arts are placed at the heart of learning. The school encourages collaboration, creativity, and curiosity, with an emphasis on well-being, social awareness, and self-expression.

Students are supported to take ownership of their learning, and teachers are given the autonomy to innovate, experiment, and inspire. The Performing Arts are a key pillar of the school s identity, and drama plays an essential role in building confidence, empathy, and communication.

Why Join This School?

  • A progressive, student-centred learning community

  • A culture that values the arts as central to education

  • Creative freedom to shape the curriculum and contribute to whole-school events

  • Access to modern performance spaces and cross-disciplinary arts projects

  • A genuine focus on well-being, inclusion, and teacher development

  • A warm, collaborative environment where your ideas will be heard and valued

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related discipline

  • Have QTS or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Be passionate about making drama relevant, inclusive, and exciting for all learners

  • Have experience teaching KS3 KS5, or be ready to grow into that responsibility

  • Be comfortable working beyond the textbook incorporating devising, physical theatre, multimedia, and contemporary practice

  • Thrive in a creative, evolving educational setting that values innovation and experimentation

  • Be committed to contributing to school productions, enrichment activities, and collaborative projects

What You ll Get in Return

  • Flexible working approaches to support work-life balance
