Job Description:

FM Conway is excited to be recruiting for a Drainage Operative Apprentice to join our Water and Drainage Management division, based at our Hickstead Depot. As a Drainage Operative Apprentice, you will gain practical experience in services including cleaning, clearance, repair, and maintenance of drains, while obtaining your Level 2 Drainage Network Operative qualification. This is a full-time, permanent position, where you will work in a supported learning environment and attend college on a block release basis, completing an average of six hours of study per week for the duration of the course.

The duties of the Drainage Operative Apprentice will include:

• Pursuing your studies and gaining the required knowledge, skills, and behaviors to achieve your Level 2 apprenticeship
• Building professional working relationships and maintaining clear, proactive communication with colleagues and customers
• Operating HGV High Pressure Jetting vehicles, inline with all safety regulations
• Operating the GIS unit and complying with company operating procedures
• Maintaining vehicle and equipment in line with established company standards

What skills and experience do you need?

As our Drainage Operative Apprentice, you should have strong teamwork skills, be self-motivated, and able to work under pressure. Effective communication skills and the ability to confidently use your own initiative are essential. Ideally, you will have a grade 4 or above in Maths and English GCSEs.
