Job summary

Lemon Drizzle Recruitment has partnered with a forward-thinking roofing contractor in the North of England to recruit a Draftsperson / Project Designer based in Durham. The role sits within an in-house design team alongside the Design Director, Design Manager, and Project Designers, liaising with Buying, Commercial, and Contracts teams.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years' experience in roofing and cladding who can collaborate effectively and work independently to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in roofing and cladding.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D for detailed drawings.
• Exposure to 3D modelling (AutoCAD 3D, Revit or Rhino) is advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Produce 2D GA and detailed construction drawings.
• Prepare material schedules and fabrication drawings.
• Attend design team meetings and minutes.
• Attend internal handover and design reviews.
• Occasionally visit sites to gather information.
• Plan workload to meet project deadlines.
• Follow company procedures and quality standards.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to add an experienced Draftsperson / Project Designer to their established Drawing Office team.

The Opportunity

You will join a collaborative in-house design team consisting of a Design Director, Design Manager, and several Project Designers, working closely with Buying, Commercial, and Contracts teams in a truly team-focused environment.

This role would suit someone with 5+ years experience in roofing and cladding who is comfortable both collaborating with others and working independently to deliver high-quality design packages.

Key Responsibilities

Produce 2D GA and detailed construction drawings

Prepare material schedules and fabrication drawings

Attend and contribute to design team meetings (including minute taking)

Attend internal handover and design review meetings

Carry out occasional site visits

Plan and manage workload to meet project deadlines

Proactively gather all required technical information

Follow established company procedures and quality standards

Skills & Experience Required

Strong organisational skills and self-motivation

Solid technical knowledge of roofing and cladding systems, including:

• Single-ply
• Hot melt
• Standing seam
• Built-up systems
• Composite roofing and wall systems

Rainscreen façade experience (desirable)

Proficient in AutoCAD (2D) and Microsoft Office

Exposure to 3D modelling (AutoCAD 3D, Revit, Rhino, or similar) is advantageous
