Introduction:
We are seeking an easy-going, patient PA with a good sense of humour to support our son develop his confidence in the local community and encourage him to try new activities. He needs a trusted adult, someone that can support his emotional development and who can offer him a safe space to talk about his wishes and feelings. The ideal candidate will share areas that are of interest; playing darts, ideally have a farming background, enjoy talking about tractors, shire horses and local shows, and attending livestock/farm machinery marts. Swimming and reading are of interest, but to a lesser extent. Experience of working with younger people with ASD and PDA is a bonus, but no experience is required if you are willing to learn and be open to research. This vacancy requires someone with patience and understanding, who can coax and negotiate to do things rather than demand tasks are completed and take time to explain the reason for having to do things. This post is funded by the local authority through the Direct Payments scheme. We require a driver with own transport due to our rural location and lack of public transport. If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4-weekly basis once a valid National insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement. You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
