Job summary

Hornbeck Offshore in the UK offshore fleet seeks a Second Assistant Engineer responsible for managing and maintaining shipboard engineering systems, reporting to the Chief Engineer.

You will serve as OICEW, ensure SMS compliance, safety and environmental protection, and coordinate with crew, vendors and shore support.

This role requires DP-2 experience, relevant certificates, and strong English; rotation and helicopter crew changes may apply.

Qualifications

• Flag state credentials for service as Second Engineer.
• Riggers certificate from a recognized authority.
• Passport is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and write English; follow commands in English.
• Minimum one year DP-2 class vessel experience as Assistant Engineer or higher.

Responsibilities

• Implement safety and environmental protection policies; communicate clear instructions; ensure SMS and Company policies are observed.
• Act as Officer in Charge of the Engineering Watch (OICEW) and maintain vessel safety, engineering systems and spaces.
• Manage engineering crew, vendors and sub-contractors; monitor fuel, water, lubricants and spare parts consumption.
• Maintain liaison with Master, DPA, flag/port/coastal authorities, clients and shore-based support.
