Orders of St. John Care Trust is recruiting a Domiciliary Care Assistant for its Extra Care Housing schemes in Cardiff. You will support residents with daily routines, provide personal care and help with social activities within self-contained flats.

We value compassion, good communication and teamwork; training is provided, with progression opportunities within a friendly, not-for-profit organisation that reinvests in residents and staff.

Our Extra Care Housing schemes, also known as assisted living, are made up of self-contained one or two-bedroom apartments, all carefully designed and built to help clients live as independently as they can. With their own front door, clients can come and go as they please, socialise with neighbours in the communal areas or enjoy their own company in privacy. Within each housing scheme our care teams are on hand round the clock to support our clients with daily tasks and activities; this is known as domiciliary care. Our Domiciliary Care Assistants make a real difference to our clients every day; whether it's supporting them with their daily routines or personal care, providing companionship or supporting with light household duties, you'll play a vital role in ensuring they are leading happy and fulfilled lives. No two days will be the same, but all of our clients live in the same building, so you won't need to travel between different locations. In joining us, you'll also become part of our extended family. You'll work alongside other team members who are passionate about providing care, warmth and kindness to all those who live and work in our schemes.If you've worked in retail, hospitality or within the warehouse industry then this could be suitable for you. Set in its own grounds at the end of a peaceful residential cul de sac, Orchard Meadows offers independent living in 40 one and two-bedroom luxury apartments, with the advantage of beautiful communal lounges for socialising and relaxing. If you've worked in domiciliary care before, then that's great as you'll have a good idea of what to expect. But if this profession is new to you, then don't worry - we'll provide all the training you need to start your care journey with us. It would be great if you hold or are working towards a Health and Social Care qualification. However, what's more important to us is that you're good at communicating with people, you're compassionate with a can-do approach, you enjoy working as part of a team, are keen to learn and will want to excel at your job every day.
