Job description

As a Domestic Supervisor with Sodexo, you are a quality-of-life improver. Working at Queens Hospital Romford, you play an important role in brightening the day of those in patient care and making a positive impact in their daily lives. Your role is vital to the success of our operations, as you support with day-to-day responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of our domestic services.

As this is a busy hospital environment open every day 365 days per year, the ability to work weekends is required; predominantly the hours will be 12pm to 8pm 5 days per week including weekends on a shift basis.

As a Domestic Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospital, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. You will manage a team of domestic staff, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. You will be working closely with your colleagues and senior management to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of domestic staff, ensuring that all cleaning and hygiene standards are met or exceeded.
  • Manage staff rotas, ensuring optimal coverage and efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee the monitoring of cleaning standards and take corrective action when necessary to meet the required quality levels.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control policies, especially in relation to hospital-specific requirements.
  • Control the budget for cleaning consumables and materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Support employee engagement through training, development, and performance management.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new domestic staff.
  • Respond to urgent cleaning requirements, ensuring rapid and effective solutions are in place.
What You Bring:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a domestic or cleaning role, ideally within a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop staff.
  • Good understanding of infection control, health and safety regulations, and NHS policies.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, clients, and patients.
  • Financial awareness and experience managing budgets.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with resilience and a positive attitude.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours as required.
