Domestic Services Supervisor (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover)Starting Salary £29,552 - £31,318 per annumMRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UKThe MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), Cambridge is an internationally recognised scientific research institute. We recognise the value of good quality cleaners and employ our own staff to ensure that the work is completed to a high standard.We are looking to recruit a Domestic Services Supervisor on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave, commencing ASAP. This is a full-time position, Monday-Thursday 5am-1pm (including a 30-minute unpaid break) and Fridays 5am-11am, totalling 36 hours per week.
This is a fixed-term position until 30 th March 2026, or the return of the postholder, whichever is earlier.You will provide day-to-day supervision, direction, guidance and support to the LMBs large team (approximately 27 staff) of Domestic Services Assistants, including Hazardous Waste Technicians, to ensure they carry out their roles effectively and provide an excellent cleaning and waste disposal service.You should have an NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services (or equivalent qualification) and e xperience in a supervisory cleaning role, including implementing, and adhering to, standards and procedures. You will also have proven experience of all major cleaning processes and safe use of various types of cleaning machinery as well as good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and legislation, including COSHH, within the domestic services environment. You will possess good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and have used electronic ordering systems.This position would be suited to applicants who have good leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and encourage staff and excellent oral and written communication skills.
You will be able to work efficiently and effectively on your own, with minimal supervision, and possess the ability to plan and prioritise your workload and that of others. You should be able to work well under pressure, make decisions and solve problems whilst displaying good attention to detail and a high level of discretion and confidentially.The LMB has a collaborative working culture and state-of-the-art building based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
