Job summary

Highgate Care is seeking a Domestic/Laundry Assistant for The Grange in Darlington. You will help maintain cleanliness and handle laundry, supporting residents with a warm, respectful approach.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises.
• Efficient laundering of clothes, linens and other washable items.
• Operate washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment safely.
• Fold, iron and store laundered items.
• Label or identify personal laundry if required.
• Ensure infection control procedures are followed.
• Report any faulty laundry equipment or maintenance issues.
• Clean designated areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and kitchens.
• Vacuum, dust, mop, disinfect surfaces, and remove rubbish as needed.
• Refill supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
• Follow cleaning schedules and procedures in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
• Notify supervisor of any hazards or repairs needed in the premises.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Domestic/Laundry Assistant, you'll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

Laundry Duties

• Collect, sort, and wash laundry items (e.g., clothing, bed linen, towels).
• Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Fold, iron, and store laundered items appropriately.
• Label or identify personal laundry if required.
• Ensure infection control procedures are followed.
• Report any faulty laundry equipment or maintenance issues.
