Job summary

St Marys Lodge in Anlaby, Hull is seeking a Domestic/Laundry Assistant to maintain cleanliness and handle laundry duties in a warm, welcoming environment. The role supports residents and staff, requiring empathy, flexibility, and teamwork within a close-knit home.

The ideal candidate is approachable, reliable and organised, with a can-do attitude. Some evening and weekend work is expected, prior care experience is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene; ensure efficient laundering of clothes and linen.
• Sort, wash, dry, fold and store laundered items; label when required; follow infection control procedures.
• Clean designated areas (bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, kitchens); vacuum, dust, mop, disinfect surfaces and remove rubbish.
• Refill supplies (soap, toilet paper, towels); follow cleaning schedules and safety standards.
• Notify supervisor of hazards or repairs needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Domestic/Laundry Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises and ensure the efficient laundering of clothes, linens, and other washable items. The role contributes to a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Laundry Duties

• Collect, sort, and wash laundry items (e.g., clothing, bed linen, towels).
• Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Fold, iron, and store laundered items appropriately.
• Label or identify personal laundry if required.
• Ensure infection control procedures are followed.
• Report any faulty laundry equipment or maintenance issues.

Domestic/Cleaning Duties

• Clean designated areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and kitchens.
• Vacuum, dust, mop, disinfect surfaces, and remove rubbish as needed.
