Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a team with a caring nature and positive attitude.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control, and COSHH.
  • Previous similar experience desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all public areas, corridors, and lounges regularly.
  • Sort, wash, dry, and iron all linens and residents' personal clothing.

Job description

Domestic / Laundry Assistant – Wanstead, London

Location:Chestnut Manor Care Home, 63 Cambridge Park, London, E11 2PR

Hourly rate:£12.21 per hour, plus50p p/h weekend enhancement

Hours:37.5 hours per week

Shifts:8:00am to 4:00pm, shifts across Monday to Sunday, working alternate weekends

About the role:

  • Clean all public areas, corridors and lounges regularly
  • Clean residents' rooms whilst maintaining their right to privacy
  • Ensure that all public areas and staff facilities meet company standards at all times
  • Keep equipment maintained and stored properly
  • Collect dirty linen/clothes from areas of the care home where applicable
  • Sort laundry into appropriate wash cycles to avoid items being damaged
  • Wash, dry and iron all linens and residents personal clothing with the utmost care and in accordance to manufacturers recommended instructions
  • Operate the laundry equipment, washing machines, tumble driers, rotary iron, etc.
  • Sort residents laundry to ensure each resident receives back their own items of clothing
  • Return all clean linen to linen cupboards and clothing to resident’s rooms on a regular and timely basis, ensuring care staff have sufficient clean linen available to carry out their duties
  • Label all company linen with the labels provided
  • Maintain the laundry area by keeping the areas clean and tidy
  • Carry out general household duties that promote the welfare of resident
  • Ensure that residents are helped to retain their dignity and individuality

About you:

  • The right to live and work in the UK

  • An understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH
  • Previous experience of working in a similar position is desirable but not essential
