Job summary

Repton Prep School is seeking a reliable Domestic Cleaning Assistant to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff. You will clean classrooms, offices, corridors and toilets to high standards, with training provided and a focus on health and safety. This is a term-time, permanent role with 9am–2pm hours, Monday to Friday.

The role offers school-holiday balance, uniform provided, and access to facilities in a supportive school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, corridors and communal areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust to maintain a clean environment.
• Empty bins and safely dispose of waste.
• Restock hygiene and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager.
• Adhere to health, safety and safeguarding policies.

Job Introduction

Repton Prep School are looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our school team as a Domestic Cleaning assistant. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas are kept to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, in line with school and statutory requirements.

This is a term time only position with an additional requirement to work the 'clean up' and 'clean down' at the beginning and end of every term.

Main Responsibilities

Key aspects of the role include:

• Daily cleaning of designated areas (classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets, staffrooms).
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to maintain a clean environment.
• Emptying bins and safely disposing of waste.
• Restocking hygiene and cleaning supplies where necessary.
• Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager or designated staff.
• Adhering to all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures.

This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Prior cleaning experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory and the School today incorporates many of the original buildings from the estate.
