Job summary

NHS Orkney is seeking a part-time cleaner for The Balfour, based in Orkney. The post involves maintaining a clean and safe environment and working as part of a team delivering cleaning and domestic services. Training will be provided, with COSHH and Infection Control knowledge advantageous.

The role is permanent, 20 hours per week (3 weekends in 4), with a salary of Band 2 (£26,696–£28,988) and a Distant Islands Allowance pro rata if living on Orkney.

Qualifications

  • Candidates with prior cleaning experience and strong interpersonal skills.
  • COSHH and Infection Control training is advantageous but not mandatory.

The Position

An Opportunity has arisen to assist in the maintaining of a clean, safe working environment in line with the NHS National Cleaning Specification. The post holder will be part of a team of staff providing cleaning and domestic services for The Balfour.

The Candidate

We’re looking for candidates with prior cleaning experience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality are essential for this role.

While experience in a healthcare setting, as well as COSHH and Infection Control training are advantageous, they are not mandatory – comprehensive training will be provided.

Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration

This post will be based at The Balfour.

The successful candidate will work Part Time 20 hours per week 1530 to 1930 (Working 3 weekends out of 4).

This position is Permanent.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.

The salary for this post is Band 2 £26,696 – £28,988 and if residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,719 pro rata per annum, adding extra value to your rewarding career with us.
