Role details

Position: Domestic Assistant

Banding: 2

Roster: Monday – Friday or Monday – Sunday (5 days from 7). There may be a requirement to work public holidays which will be allocated in advance from your Supervisor/Line Manager.

Contracted Hours: Various to be discussed at interview

Shift Times: Various

Locality: Dundee

Site: Ninewells Hospital. There may be a requirement to work throughout the Dundee Locality which would be discussed in advance with your Supervisor/Line Manager.

Role purpose

Domestic Services Department are recruiting for Domestic Assistants to undertake cleaning responsibilities across the Dundee locality in order to deliver the highest standard of cleanliness within the healthcare setting. This includes areas such as wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centres, GP practices, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team or on your own initiative. This may include lone working.
  • Possess good verbal/written communication skills and listen and communicate information effectively.
  • Respond constructively to unpredictable situations and cope under pressure.
  • Complete Domestic related paperwork.
  • Have awareness of basic health & safety and infection control issues related to the role.
  • Carry out tasks in a methodical manner.
  • Follow instructions.
  • Carry out mandatory training, both online and face to face.
  • Undertake a range of duties in a safe and competent manner, which includes walking and standing for most of the shift, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling and lifting, using appropriate aids.
  • Cope working in busy clinical and non-clinical environments, including areas with increased heat, secure units, and distressed patients.
  • Work in environments that may be classed as infected.
  • Have a professional approach and understand the importance of maintaining and observing confidentiality.
  • Be reliable/responsible and learn/adapt.

All Domestic Assistants are required to work throughout NHS Tayside at various sites/areas should there be a requirement to do so.
