Job summary

Verian Business Solutions Ltd seeks a Domestic ACS Gas Operative to deliver heating maintenance, servicing, and repair solutions across domestic properties. You will diagnose faults, perform high-quality repairs, and ensure compliance with current industry regulations and safety standards.

The role requires valid ACS qualifications (CCN1, CEN1, WAT1, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1), Energy Efficiency certification, Asbestos Awareness training, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in domestic gas systems.

Qualifications

• Valid ACS qualifications including CCN1, CEN1, WAT1 (CENWAT), CKR1, HTR1 and CPA1.
• Certified in Energy Efficiency standards.
• Certificate of Asbestos Awareness Training.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in domestic gas central heating fault diagnosis, servicing, and repairs.
• Full, valid UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, maintain, and install domestic gas appliances in line with manufacturer guidance and regulatory requirements.
• Perform fault diagnosis on boilers and carry out central heating repairs including pumps, valves, radiators, power flushing, and pipework changes.
• Communicate effectively with residents and property owners, explaining operations and the importance of regular servicing.
• Handle, secure, and maintain company equipment including vehicles, gas analysis meters, and mobile devices.
• Complete digital certification and compliance documentation accurately per Data Protection and Information Security standards.
• Work independently and with the team, meet deadlines, aim for high first-time fix rates, and mentor apprentices when required.
• Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policy and report hazards or incidents promptly.

The Role

As a Domestic ACS Gas Operative, you will play a vital role in delivering expert heating maintenance, servicing, and repair solutions across domestic properties. You will utilize your technical expertise to diagnose complex faults, perform high-quality repairs, and ensure complete compliance with current industry regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Servicing & Repairs: Service, repair, maintain, and install domestic gas appliances in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Diagnostics & System Maintenance: Perform precise fault diagnosis on modern and traditional boilers. Execute comprehensive central heating repairs, including fitting new pumps, motorised valves, radiators, power flushing, and pipework modifications.
• Customer Communication: Effectively communicate with residents and property owners, explaining appliance operations, highlighting the importance of regular servicing, and addressing inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
• Equipment & Technology: Ensure the proper handling, security, and maintenance of all company-supplied equipment, including company vehicles, flue gas analysis meters, and PDA mobile devices.
• Compliance & Records: Complete all digital certification and compliance documentation accurately, adhering strictly to Data Protection and Information Security standards.
• Teamwork & Mentorship: Operate independently and collaboratively, meeting tight deadlines, maintaining high first-time fix rates, and supporting or mentoring apprentices when required.
• Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to our client's Health & Safety Policy, properly maintain issued PPE, and report any hazards, incidents, or near-misses immediately.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• ACS Certifications: Valid ACS qualifications, including CCN1, CEN1, WAT1 (CENWAT), CKR1, HTR1, and CPA1.
• Energy Efficiency: Certified in Energy Efficiency standards.
• Asbestos Awareness: Certificate of Asbestos Awareness Training.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in domestic gas central heating fault diagnosis, servicing, and repairs.
• Driving Licence: Full, valid UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

• DAH1, Unvented Hot Water, or WRAS (Water Supply Regulations 1999).
• Certificates in Working at Height, Manual Handling, or 1-Day First Aid.
