Overview

Domestic Abuse Practitioner

Location: Newcastle under Lyme

Hours per week: 37.5

Contract type: Fixed Term

This fixed term, salaried vacancy will close in 17 days at 23:59 BST.

Role

As a specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you’ll support individuals and families within our safe accommodation services. You’ll provide a tailored, person-centred support package to help customers achieve their goals and live a life free from abuse.

Responsibilities
  • Work with customers to identify their individual support needs and provide a tailored support package. This includes housing, health, wellbeing, finances and safety.
  • Process customer referrals, including assessments of risk and support needs, to manage allocation of void properties.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the identified needs of customers. This might include providing reports for, or attending, meetings (e.g. MARAC).
  • Advocate for customers so that agencies understand and meet their needs.
  • Support the customer to engage with both internal and external agencies to access services and help develop skills so they can achieve their goals.
What We’re Looking For
  • Have a genuine understanding of people in abusive relationships.
  • Be up to date with current issues and laws within the domestic abuse sector, welfare reform and homelessness.
  • Have experience delivering support to customers, recognising individual needs and identifying opportunities while meeting deadlines.
  • Have good ICT, communication and time management skills.
  • Have experience handling personal data in line with GDPR.
  • Have a full UK driving license and use of own vehicle for work.
  • DBS check required every three years.
