Job summary

Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury is seeking a Behaviour Officer to lead assessments of dogs and design behavioural rehabilitation plans. You will develop training programmes to improve each dog's chances of rehoming and ensure effective support during adoption and after.

You will oversee colleagues in implementing plans, monitor progress, and keep detailed records. The role requires thorough knowledge of dog behaviour, welfare, and strong communication to handle delicate situations professionally.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare.
• Experience writing and implementing training and behaviour modification programmes.
• Excellent communication skills; able to handle delicate situations professionally.
• Experience handling dogs with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Assess the behaviour of dogs before entry and during stay.
• Design and implement Behaviour Modification Programmes and training plans.
• Oversee and support implementation by colleagues.
• Monitor progress and maintain detailed records for each dog.
