We are looking for an experienced Document Controller to join our construction delivery team. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining project documentation within the Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring compliance with ISO 19650, and supporting the wider project team with accurate, up-to-date information.

You will play a key part in ensuring information flows smoothly between the main contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and the client — contributing to the delivery of high-quality, well-coordinated projects.

This is a full time, permanent role 40 hours over 5 days per week.

Duties of the Role:

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, a robust understanding of delivering in the commercial, student or build to rent sector, and the ability to work collaboratively with key project stakeholders. A relentless focus on safe delivery, programme certainty, stakeholder engagement, and quality assurance are essential.

Key Responsibilities

CDE Administration

  • Set up, maintain, and administer the Common Data Environment (Viewpoint for Projects)
  • Manage user permissions, ensuring the right access levels for team members and stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate uploading, versioning, and distribution of documents and drawings
  • Configure workflows, run reports, and provide training/support to the project team

ISO 19650 Compliance

  • Maintain document control processes aligned with ISO 19650 standards
  • Support the development and implementation of project-specific information management plans

Quality Assurance

  • Check documents for compliance with naming conventions, revision status, and approvals
  • Manage document workflows and ensure non-compliant documents are dealt with appropriately

Organisation & Communication

  • Prioritise workloads across multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with the project team and escalate issues when required

Managing Third Parties

  • Coordinate document submissions from subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Chase outstanding information and ensure timely delivery of critical documents

Team Integration

  • Collaborate closely with design managers, planners, site teams, and commercial staff
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting process improvements and knowledge sharing

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Document Controller in the main contracting or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of CDE platforms (e.g., Viewpoint, BIM 360, Aconex)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and multitask
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to document quality
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to integrate into a dynamic project team
  • Experience configuring digital tool workflows and templatesFamiliarity with BIM processes and digital construction toolsKnowledge of managing design team documentation and third-party submissions
