Murphy is recruiting for a Document Controller - MAEto work with Murphy Applied Engineeringbased out of our Cannock office

Our engineering teams represent a multi-disciplined range of engineering skills, adding value across all our sectors, and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable and economical engineering solutions.

Under the banner of Murphy Applied Engineering, our in-house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.

A day in the life of a Murphy Document Controller

  • Ensure document control is the focal point for all construction documentation and is managed in a controlled manner.
  • Ensure document control requirements are administered as per contract requirements and withinagreed timescales.
  • Ensure only approved, current documentation is available for use by all relevant parties at the pointof use.
  • Ensure Obsolete/Superseded/Withdrawn documents are kept by DC for reference or other purposes, clearly identified and/or stored separately.
  • Carry out periodic checks to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure information stored on Client's CDEsis permanently available or transferred to the JMS CDE prior to contract completion.
  • Create and maintain document registers as required
  • Review document details, ensure they are correct prior to issue (e.g. doc number, revision, status(reason for issue), title, date, page numbering, header, footer, template used, print set-up,signatures).
  • Quality check documents and edit any that have typographical / formatting errors that may lead tothe disqualification of the document or cause it to look unprofessional. Ensure the entire documentis legible.
  • Assist in the creation and maintain distribution lists / workflows / review cycles.
  • Ensures there are no errors in filenames before submission of electronic files.
  • Ensure documents have been reviewed and approved by a competent person as per contract requirements.

  • Assist in a seamless, timely, professional transfer of documents between all stakeholders.
  • Assist in the collation and issue of project / site 'start-up' packs.
  • Assist in the management of change by ensuring documents are processed correctly and linked to the contract documents as required.
  • Assist in the collation and issue of handover documentation (O&M manuals, H&S files, as-built records, databooks etc.) Assist with site scanning of documents and records, ensure legibility and traceability.
  • Assist with archiving of documents, ensure legibility and traceability. Note: archiving should be electronic unless the contract or legislation states otherwise.
  • Assist with the development and training of assistant document controllers.
  • Assist with Aconex training / set-up for new starters within 5 working days.
  • Raise any Document Control issues / concerns at the earliest opportunity, with appropriate person, document and inform the Senior DC or Doc Control Manager.
