Job description

Murphy is recruiting for a Document Controller to support a Water project based in Packington, Leicestershire.

We provide end-to-end services for major water and sewage companies such as Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, and United Utilities, as well as for several water-only companies including SES Water, Bristol Water, and South East Water.

Additionally, we offer comprehensive design, build, operate, and maintain services for Uisce Éireann, currently managing over 25 of their facilities to ensure efficient operation and full compliance with EPA regulations.

A day in the life of a Murphy Document Controller
  • Ensure document control is the focal point for all construction documentation and is managed in a controlled manner.
  • Maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE) such as F Drive, Aconex, and/or the Client CDE. Ensure information stored on Client's CDEs is permanently available or transferred to the JMS CDE prior to contract completion.
  • Create and maintain document registers as required.
  • Allocate document numbers according to the JMS or Client specified Document Numbering procedure.
  • Review document details, ensuring correctness prior to issue (e.g., document number, revision, status, title, date, page numbering, headers, footers, templates, print setup, signatures).
  • Perform quality checks on documents and edit any with typographical or formatting errors that could affect professionalism or disqualification. Ensure documents are legible.
  • Create and maintain distribution lists, workflows, and review cycles.
  • Collate and issue handover documentation such as O&M manuals, H&S files, as-built records, and data books.
  • Archive documents ensuring legibility and traceability; electronic archiving is preferred unless legislation states otherwise.
