Document Controller

Location: Guildford
Salary: Circa £40,000 + employee benefits

RecruitME is working with a leading national renewable energy operator to recruit a Document Controller based in Guildford or covering their wider UK site network.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Document Controller to join a future-focused organisation at the forefront of low-carbon energy solutions. You’ll be part of a team responsible for supporting engineering, compliance and operational excellence by managing and maintaining structured, accurate, and accessible documentation systems.

As a Document Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring regulatory readiness, technical accuracy, and efficient information flow across complex projects and multiple operational sites. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a fast-growing sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain controlled documentation including engineering drawings, health and safety records, SOPs, and project deliverables

  • Ensure accurate version control, change tracking, and secure document storage

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate document exchange and updates

  • Support audit processes by maintaining up-to-date documentation and preparing relevant records

  • Administer SharePoint, Dropbox, or internal CMS systems used for document storage and access

  • Set up structured document control frameworks for new projects and sites

  • Promote continuous improvement in document workflows and compliance standards

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Document Controller, quality systems, or technical administration role

  • Familiar with document management tools and platforms such as SharePoint and MS Office

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and document accuracy

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

  • Experience in engineering, utilities, construction, or similar regulated environments

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality frameworks

  • Background in the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors

  • Understanding of anaerobic digestion or biogas operations (not essential)
