Document Controller – Civils & Groundworks

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE

Role Type: Permanent | Immediate Start

If you’re someone who loves getting things organised, thrives on precision, and knows how to keep information flowing like a well-oiled machine – this could be your perfect role. Our client is looking for a Document Controller who’s ready to bring structure, clarity, and control to a busy, fast-paced construction environment.

Our client is a respected civils and groundworks contractor operating across South Yorkshire. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for delivering high-quality projects, they specialise in earthworks and site preparation, substructure, drainage, reinforced concrete, external works, and surfacing.

They are now looking for a Document Controller to join the team and help keep their project information sharp, secure, and compliant.

The Role:

As Document Controller, you’ll be the central hub for all project documentation – digital and hard copy. You’ll work closely with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure that everyone’s working from the right drawings and the most up-to-date information. This is a permanent role with an immediate start, offering a great opportunity to grow your career within the civil engineering and groundworks sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the flow of project documents, drawings, and records using document control systems
  • Ensure correct versions of documents are issued, filed, and archived appropriately
  • Maintain document registers and track document status updates
  • Assist with the preparation, formatting, and distribution of reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Liaise with engineers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure document accuracy and timely delivery
  • Support tender and handover documentation processes as required
  • Uphold compliance with internal standards and external regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive project data
  • Organise site folders and documentation for easy access and traceability
  • Identify improvements in document control procedures and help streamline systems
Candidate Requirements:

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Document Controller with experience in construction or civil engineering environments. Strong organisational skills, a good understanding of document management systems, and the ability to work under pressure are key. You’ll need to be tech-savvy, process-driven, and confident communicating with site and office-based teams.

Why this role?

You’ll be joining a company that values professionalism, teamwork, and getting the job done right. This is your chance to be part of a growing business where your work genuinely makes a difference to project success.

Additional benefits include:

  • Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
  • Immediate start available
  • Permanent position with development opportunities
  • Supportive team and a wide variety of interesting projects
