Job summary

The University of Bath is seeking a Doctoral Training and Development Officer to coordinate and enhance the Doctoral Development Programme, ensuring high-quality, inclusive development across the doctoral journey.

Based in the Doctoral College, the role is 0.8 FTE on a fixed-term basis until 27 August 2027, predominantly campus-based with 1–2 remote days, and involves collaborating with internal and external partners to tailor provision at key stages.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of training and development needs of postgraduate researchers.
• Knowledge of current effective learning approaches.
• Experience maintaining and developing online learning resources.
• Experience coordinating a learning and development programme.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Experience gathering data, analysing findings and reporting outcomes.
• Can-do attitude with a passion for learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the annual programme of workshops and development opportunities, deliver selected training sessions and writing retreats, support the doctoral coaching programme and oversee the online doctoral development platform.
• Work with internal and external partners to develop innovative approaches to researcher development.
• Support development of tailored provision at key stages of the doctoral journey, including for new researchers and those nearing completion.
