Job Description:

We are seeking a GMC-registered Specialist Consultant Psychiatrist (Medical Cannabis Prescriber) to assess and manage patients exploring medical cannabis treatment options. This is a fully remote role within a multidisciplinary team, offering flexibility and autonomy.

Company Overview: Our client is the UK’s leading cannabis company with global operations, facilitating access to cannabis through locally integrated ecosystems. They aim to improve lives through cannabis therapies and are recognized as one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Australia, now expanding in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess pre-screened patients and determine eligibility for cannabis-based treatment according to regulations.
  • Prescribe cannabis-based medicines when appropriate, following guidelines.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including pharmacists and nurse prescribers, to ensure effective treatment plans.
  • Oversee shared care arrangements and maintain clinical oversight.
  • Monitor patient responses and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Support other prescribers to ensure evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant medical records.
  • Educate patients on safe use of prescribed medicines.
  • Stay updated with research, guidance, and policy changes related to medical cannabis in the UK.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent.
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
  • Interest in medical cannabis therapies.
  • Willingness to participate in clinical outcome data collection.
  • Compensation of £800 per session (4 hours), guaranteed (£200/hour).
  • Flexible remote working, no night shifts or on-call duties.
  • Specialist training in prescribing cannabis-based medicines, provided by leading consultants.
  • Access to CPD-accredited education and ongoing professional development.

Indemnity: Clinicians must hold professional and clinical indemnity insurance according to UK guidelines.

Sessions: Each session lasts 4 hours. Clinicians can choose preferred working days and spread sessions flexibly. A minimum of 2 sessions (8 hours) per week is required to onboard and gain proficiency.
