About the job:

The DMU Performance Manager will have oversight of the Class 150, 158 & 165 DMUs allocated to Exeter T&RS depot. They will work closely with the maintenance technicians, providing support to ensure we provide a safe, reliable, well maintained and efficient fleet of trains.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • DMU Performance Improvement
  • Investigating DMU faults and failures
  • Writing & Improving Maintenance Instructions
  • Managing Inspection & Measuring Equipment
  • Coaching & Training Maintenance Technicians
  • DMU IT applications / tooling expert
  • Maintaining standards of records and documentation

You'll need to be:

  • Technically astute & analytical
  • Capable of multi-tasking, prioritising and dealing with pressure
  • Able to work regular night shifts
  • Safety aware
  • Able to coach and challenge when necessary
  • Able to communicate internally and externally at all levels
  • IT Literate
  • Self-Teaching & inquisitive
  • Methodical and process driven

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • Experience of working on all DMU systems mechanical, electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic
  • A High degree of fault-finding ability.
  • A minimum of NVQ 3 in an engineering discipline.
  • An understanding of the customer's needs.
  • The courage and confidence to make difficult decisions when required.
  • A passion to improve
