Purpose of the Job
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical standards and service solutions across the portfolio.
- Support the performance and profitability of CBRE GWS Data Centre Solutions.
- Ensure effective delivery of technical operations.
- Represent best practices in the data centre sector.
- Develop strategic engineering direction and support new initiatives.
- Assist account teams with technical engineering matters, compliance, and training.
- Act as a senior management team member and primary client interface on technical issues.
- Drive the Critical Environment & Risk Management (CERM) standards to ensure 100% plant availability.
- Collaborate with leaders in QHSE and Reliability to enhance technical standards and operational delivery.
Key Tasks
- Provide technical advice and assistance to maintenance teams.
- Implement and embed the CERM model into daily operations.
- Ensure maintenance aligns with client and CBRE requirements.
- Deliver technical needs assessments and develop training plans.
- Manage essential maintenance periods as per contract scope.
- Create a network of technical champions and plan succession.
- Develop reports on productivity, reliability, failure trends, and improvements.
- Support root cause analysis and lessons learned sharing.
Projects/Operations Interface
- Support development of EOPs and SOPs.
- Manage change control processes.
- Conduct emergency response simulations with the Reliability team.
- Ensure quality and consistency in business management.
- Manage critical assets, CMMS, capacity reporting, and spares management.
Skills / Experience / Background
- Experience as Technical Manager/Director in critical/data centre environments.
- Knowledge of electrical infrastructures, HVAC systems, and plant operations.
- Up-to-date with ACOPs, fire, environmental controls, HV systems, and safety regulations.
- Minimum HNC in engineering; degree preferred; Chartered status desirable.
- Experience of 10+ years in data centres or critical engineering environments.
- Strong communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to lead change and work within contractual frameworks.
