About the role

Are you a sustainability expert with a passion for driving real change within a global business? DS Smith has a firm commitment to our sustainability targets, particularly our carbon reduction program (SBTi). We're seeking a Divisional Sustainability Manager to own and advance our sustainability roadmap, providing crucial expertise and guidance to our Paper Division.

This pivotal role will see you at the heart of our sustainability efforts, ensuring our programs and investments are strategically aligned to meet our ambitious goals. You will work closely with our Energy & Technology Manager to deliver a greener future.

As the Divisional Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for leading our sustainability initiatives and ensuring our goals are met across the Paper Division. You will take ownership of the Divisional Sustainability Roadmap, including its coordination, reporting, and tracking throughout its lifecycle. Working closely with the stakeholders, you will set targets and coordinate the delivery of our sustainability strategy through strategic investments, best practices, and initiatives.

You will also provide vital, hands-on support for local projects, ensuring they are delivered on time with the right governance and contractual frameworks. Furthermore, you'll manage the communication around these projects, ensuring they are prepared for Group committees and their success stories are shared. A core part of your leadership will be to champion Health, Safety, and the Environment (HSE), ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of zero accidents.

About you

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who brings:

  • An Engineering or Technical degree, with specific training and education on sustainability, especially energy markets and generation, carbon, GHG, and SBTi
  • Demonstrable experience in energy engineering, projects, contracting, and/or sustainability management
  • Keen attention to detail, strong presentational skills, and an appreciation for key project risks within a business context
  • A clear understanding and knowledge of the paper business – desirable

Location: This is a full-time role, home based with travel to our divisional sites across UK and Europe as required.
