Job responsibilities

1. Divisional Manager Medical Specialties (Substantive Post)

Start: Feb/ March 2026

We are seeking a strategic and inspiring Divisional Manager to lead our Medical Specialties Division, following the retirement of a long-standing and highly respected postholder. This is a critical leadership role at the heart of the organisation, and we are beginning the recruitment process early to ensure the very best appointment.

Youll lead a broad portfolio of services including Outpatients, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, Nephrology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Medical Photography and Cardiology, working closely with clinical directors and senior operational teams. The division plays a key role in our elective recovery, service transformation, integration and innovation agenda.

Ideal start: Late November / Early December 2025

This exciting opportunity will cover maternity leave in our dynamic Children and Young People Division, which includes general paediatrics, adolescent services, and paediatric oncology. Youll join a highly engaged team delivering compassionate, developmentally informed care in one of the UKs leading childrens centres.

3. Divisional Manager Surgical Specialties (12-month Fixed-Term)

Ideal start: Late November / Early December 2025

We are also seeking a strong operational leader to join our Surgical Specialties Division, covering services such as orthopaedics, urology, thoracic surgery, and head and neck surgery as well as management of the Trusts Westmoreland Street Hospital. This maternity leave cover offers the chance to lead some of the most technically advanced and high-performing surgical services in the NHS, working alongside world-class clinicians.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Higher professional or management degree (master's level) or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience.
  • Significant experience working on both strategic and operational matters at a senior management level, in a large complex organisation preferably within the NHS.
  • NHS/public sector/healthcare sector experience and knowledge.
  • Demonstrable experience of effective budgetary management and control, including achieving annual targets on a regular basis.
  • Experience of leadership of complex operational change management while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Quality focussed with an innovative approach and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Highly developed communication skills, ranging from informal 1:1 discussion, formal presentations covering both oral and written skills.
