Job description

Job Description

Lords Group Trading is a fast-growing business with over 40 years of experience supplying building materials, plumbing, heating, and DIY products across the UK. We operate from 48 sites and support a wide range of trade professionals, from local builders to large contractors.

Originally a family-run business, we’ve grown into something much bigger — but we’ve kept the down-to-earth culture, team spirit, and customer focus that set us apart. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to offer real opportunities for progression and development across the Group.

Role Description

As the senior point of contact for health & safety within the division, you’ll lead on risk management, statutory compliance, and safety culture. You’ll advise, guide and support operational managers, oversee audits and investigations, and ensure best practices are shared across all locations.

Although the role has no direct line reports, you’ll act as a mentor and technical guide to junior colleagues (e.g. Compliance & Facilities Coordinators), offering coaching and support to help align priorities and build capability.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead adviser on all divisional health & safety matters
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal safety systems
  • Lead and deliver divisional audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Produce clear, insightful reports for divisional and group-level leadership
  • Champion safety engagement initiatives and staff training
  • Collaborate with the Group Head of H&S to align on strategy and performance
  • Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, and contractor compliance
  • Act as the divisional representative on the Safety Board and relevant working groups

This is a highly visible and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic, growing business. You’ll play a key role in shaping how health & safety is implemented in our Merchanting Division, with plenty of support from a wider Group team and access to ongoing professional development.

If you’re ready to make a difference — we’d love to hear from you.

Hours: 9am-5pm Mon-Fri

Holiday: 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays

Salary Range: £48,000-£52,000

Benefits: Discretionary Bonus Scheme, Car Allowance

Location: Base location is negotiable
