An opportunity has arisen for 2 Divisional Finance Manager postsat South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for enthusiastic andambitious individuals to join our Finance team.

The successful applicants will be responsible for providing ahigh quality and comprehensive accountancy service to ensure immediate andlong-term financial viability and stability to the directorates within theorganisation. The Trust's Finance department is Future Focused Finance level 2accredited; we are passionate about the training and development of our teamand this is embedded in our culture. The successful applicant will be CCAB qualifiedor a passed finalist.

The posts are based at Sunderland Royal Hospital Trust Headquarterssite; however, hybrid working is in place in the Financial Management Team.

Main duties of the job

Therole will encompass a high degree of the following disciplines:

- Provision of high-qualityfinancial advice and business support to Trust headquarters service Divisions.

- Financial planning, reporting, andforecasting

- Expertise of managing orsupervising staff

- CCAB Qualified Accountant

- NHS Finance Experience

- Good understanding of the localhealth economy

- Knowledge of the services providedby the Trust.

- Experience of presenting financialinformation for non-finance audiences

- CCAB Passed finalist.

- Significant experience of workingin Finance in a large or complex organisation

- Sound understanding of the NHSfinancial regime.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for the provision of highquality financial advice and business support to specified Divisions andservices, in order to facilitate the effective monitoring and management ofDivisional finances.

Responsible for ensuring the provisionof robust divisional financial information and reliable financial forecasts.

Ensures the co-ordination andintegration of Divisional financial plans with corporate financialresponsibilities, objectives, plans and overall financial strategy.

Liaise regularly with Director ofFinance, Deputy Director of Finance and Head of Financial Management on currentfinancial issues

To regularly work with DivisionalGeneral Managers, Divisional Directors, Associate Medical Directors, ClinicalDirector and Departmental Heads within the Divisions to ensure long termfinancial viability and stability for the clinical area of responsibility.

Qualifications
  • CCAB passed finalist committed to achieving full membership of professional body within 12 months of appointment.
  • CCAB qualified accountant
Experience
  • Significant experience in finance working in a large or complex organisation.
  • Experience of spreadsheet, database and word-processing packages and experience of use of computerised ledger systems, preferably Oracle Financials.
  • Experience of managing or supervising staff
  • NHS Finance experience
Skills and Knowledge
  • Sound understanding of the NHS financial regime and relevant legislation and guidance, including Payment by Results and the Single Oversight Framework.
  • Excellent skills in analysing, interpreting and using highly complex data
  • Effective problem-solving skills, especially for new issues where there is no precedent to follow
  • Working knowledge of clinical and non-clinical services provided by the Trust
Other skills
  • Excellent communication skills including presentation and summary of complex data into meaningful information for Divisional staff.
  • Able to work accurately thoroughly and with minimal supervision to tight deadlines
