Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Salford Care Organisation finance team.
This role presents the postholder with the opportunity to provide financial guidance to the strategic development and integration of services, whilst also supporting the planning and reporting of these services.
The successful post holder will be a fundamental part of the finance senior leadership team, leading the development of the service offer towards a business partnering model a model recognised by HfMA and FSD as integral to the future of NHS Finance.
As Divisional Accountant you will provide a key link between the Business Accountant, management accounts and service teams. You will also support the Finance department in the process of meeting its objectives and assist in the preparation of budgetary and reporting systems; implementing procedures that enable effective financial management and efficient use of resources. The successful individual will move away from traditional transactional reporting to insightful analysis and having a seat at the decision-making table to drive strategy.
Main duties of the job
The role is for Divisional Accountant within the Salford Care Organisation, which is currently leading transformational change to the provision of health and social care across Salford. This role presents the postholder with the opportunity to provide financial guidance to the strategic development of services, whilst also supporting planning and reporting. You will be responsible for the management and performance of the division and will provide a key link between the Business Accountant, management accounts team and ICB colleagues. You will also support the Finance department in the process of meeting its objectives and assist in the preparation of budgetary and reporting systems; implementing procedures that enable effective financial management and efficient use of resources.
You will also require a good understanding of the accounting function and should also be able to plan your workload in order to meet both strict and conflicting deadlines.
You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with post qualification management experience.

Qualifications
- Professional Accountancy Qualification with substantial post qualification experience
Experience
- Substantial senior level experience in a Finance Department.
- Knowledge of current issues affecting Health & Social care

- Evidence of collaboration across teams/organisations
- Evidence of leading and supporting the development of a team
Skills
- Able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information using developed persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training or re-assurance skills.
- Able to deal with performance, feedback, coaching, training and counselling issues relating to staff.
- Able to analyse highly complex problems and make judgements regarding allocation of finances
- Able to plan delivery of management accounting services over the financial year for own area and contribute to medium term financial strategy
- Able to work closely with non-finance colleagues to effectively communicate finance information
- Able to interrogate and extract information from financial and associated systems using query tools
Desirable criteria
- Able to design and format spreadsheets and databases for specific purposes
Knowledge
- Specialist and practical knowledge of financial and management accounting procedures and financial and other aspects of legislation
