Are you passionate about caring for the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Water Networks Team as a Distribution Technician, working with colleagues to deliver excellent service for customers, communities, and the environment.

We are looking for optimistic, self-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills to join our team managing our water network and customer needs.

As a Distribution Technician, you will work across Essex, managing and resolving customer and network issues. You will be part of a customer-focused team contributing to our company's 14 ambitious goals outlined in our 2020/25 plan and beyond.

Our Distribution Technicians provide face-to-face technical assistance, identifying leaks, faults, and potential issues for referral to repair teams.

This role involves working flexibly in a dynamic environment during the day and on standby out of hours, with Health & Safety as a top priority for yourself, the team, customers, and the public.

Daily tasks include maintaining and operating our water network to ensure high-quality service, working to water quality standards, reducing leakage, maintaining supplies, and ensuring environmental compliance.

We encourage empowerment within our Water Network team, providing support, training, and coaching. Once competencies are met, you will participate in an operational standby rota.

About you

If you are a technically minded problem solver with strong communication skills and a desire to work flexibly in a 24/7 environment, we want to hear from you.

You should be able to work independently, making on-the-spot decisions, and thrive in problem-solving environments.

Experience in the water industry or working on pipe networks is beneficial but not essential; we offer in-house training for the right candidate.

Successful candidates must hold a full UK manual driving licence and reside within our operational area.

At Essex & Suffolk Water, we value Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity, encouraging all colleagues to bring their authentic selves to work.

We have networks supporting LGBTQIA+, Race, Ethnicity, Cultural Heritage, Women in STEM, and Neurodiversity, fostering a safe, inclusive environment.

We welcome all applications and aim for diverse representation within our teams.

This role is safety and security critical; a drug and alcohol test is required as a condition of employment.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted, with failure potentially leading to revocation of the job offer.

A DBS check is required before employment.

The recruitment process involves two stages: a virtual interview and an in-person assessment at our Chelmsford head office.
