We are currently seeking a Distribution Supervisor to join the team based at our Dowlow Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire.

In this role, you will be responsible for proactively driving the performance within the Distribution team, establishing procedures which enhance the performance of our logistics fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development of a performance culture within the distribution team, ensure an effective and efficient customer interface from receipt of enquiry, pricing, quotation generation through to order receipt and despatch of materials.
  2. Build stakeholder relationships including hauliers, customers (internal and external), drivers, etc.
  3. Work with the local management team to ensure customer deliveries can be met cost efficiently, ensuring harmonious working between departments.
  4. Identify opportunities for logistical efficiencies and synergies, thus reducing haulage costs and maximising effective truck utilisation.
  5. Act as a point of escalation for queries from internal drivers, external hauliers, owner drivers to maximise performance and synergies in the delivery of concrete to all customers, internal and external.
  6. Liaise with Transport Manager on compliance issues, excessive costs, vehicle issues, and fleet size.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

The successful candidate will have a flexible, proactive, and versatile approach to work. You will have an energetic “hands-on” approach and the ability to anticipate problems, consider solutions, and negotiate effectively. You should be able to work collaboratively with colleagues both formally and informally.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated, hard-working person with a positive attitude. Experience in process improvement and efficiencies within logistics, distribution, and supply chain is essential. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, along with sound strategic, budgetary, and financial knowledge, are required. Ability to lead and perform in a busy, fast-paced environment is important.
