Job description

Join our team as a Shop Distribution Manager at our Derby Normanton Drive store! We are offering a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent position. If you're passionate about making an impact, driven, motivated, and eager to help our store reach its full potential, this role is perfect for you. We seek someone with a love for charity retail, a keen eye for fashion, and the ability to take initiative and lead enthusiastically.

As Shop Distribution Manager, you will:
  1. Help develop in-store systems and promote donations and sales to maximize profits.
  2. Represent Mencap as an efficient and charitable organization, ensuring your actions reflect Mencap's aims and values.
  3. Strive to generate stock from the local area and donors.
  4. Sign up donors to the Gift Aid scheme and ensure maximum income through Gift Aid.
  5. Be responsible for achieving profit targets by maximizing sales and managing costs effectively.
  6. Maintain the store's presentation to a high standard.
  7. Build an effective volunteer team, providing training, development, work reviews, and appraisals to paid staff and volunteers.
  8. Handle all financial and cash handling responsibilities, along with health and safety compliance.
To be successful as a Shop Manager, you should:
  1. Be an experienced manager capable of maintaining budgets and completing weekly income and banking sheets accurately, preferably with previous charity retail experience at the Shop Manager level.
  2. Have a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays as needed.
  3. Be willing to travel for team meetings, training, and assisting with setting up new stores.
  4. Be passionate about Mencap's values and strive for the success of our retail brand.
  5. Manage logistics, vans, and stock allocation within the area to maximize income for Mencap.
