At Menzies Distribution, we have an opening for an experienced Distribution Manager to join our team in Newbridge (just outside Edinburgh). Menzies Distribution is a time-critical logistics business delivering supply chain solutions across newsstand, retail, eCommerce, and more.

The Details

• Location: Newbridge (Edinburgh)
• 40 hours per week, Wednesday - Sunday (flexibility for other days may be required)

Key Duties

You will support the Operations Manager by maximizing operational performance through directing daily, weekly, and monthly activities, providing leadership, motivation, training, and development to the workforce, and executing customer requirements. Ability to manage remote teams and deal with customers daily is essential.

Distribution Manager Duties

• Manage and supervise depot operations, reporting to the site Operations Manager.
• Support and develop the operational team.
• Ensure performance exceeds customer expectations, meeting KPIs.
• Develop effective relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ensure operational compliance, including H&S standards.
• Assist in meeting operational performance standards.
• Plan and conduct regular reviews, training, and development of staff.
• Monitor the use of driver and vehicle resources.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Analyze operational and financial data to improve efficiencies around MPG, Tachos, fuel, and damage.
• Coordinate site housekeeping and maintenance to uphold H&S requirements.
• UK travel may be required.
• Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
• Ability to motivate and develop people.
• Manage budgets and projects.
• Develop and measure KPIs.
• Plan and organize effectively to meet deadlines.
• Use and understand computerized systems like TMS and WMS.
• Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail.
