Distribution Hub Trunk Planner

Purpose of the role

1. Working with the distribution team to deliver customers freight within the agreed timescale and customers specifications for each consignment.
2. Using all tools available to ensure that customers freight is delivered “on time and in Full”, whilst growing our Gross Profit.
3. Deliver best in class performance by planning trunk routes to consistently achieve against a range of measures: fleet utilisation, health, safety and legal requirements, customer specifications, etc., following all company processes and procedures.
4. To cover for the domestic planner when they are absent, planning the core domestic fleet to provide next day / same day service (may require working different shift patterns).
5. Conduct a daily review of the previous day’s performance, creating the Trunk report, understanding root causes of any failed deliveries, and creating solutions to prevent re-occurrence, with feedback to management and the wider team.
6. Achieve your performance targets and objectives, acting upon opportunities for improvement and building on your strengths.
7. Liaise with colleagues and 3rd parties across the UK to ensure a joint approach to delivering freight.
8. Work alongside the team to produce management reports as needed.
9. Model our corporate values, working as part of the distribution team to improve collaboration, communication, and feedback culture.
10. Continuously grow your knowledge and skills, enabling you to cover multiple roles as required.
11. Provide daily handover feedback to management, supervisors, and colleagues.
