The Distinguished Engineer role at Snyk plays a fundamental role in advancing the company's technical capabilities. They are expected to collaborate across divisions to establish fundamental technical frameworks that unify Snyk’s technical stack. These Snykers possess crucial knowledge encompassing a significant portion of the company's technical landscape - and then leverage this expertise to drive coherence, consistency, and efficiency in our products and services. Distinguished Engineers are expected to be able to influence organizational decisions and spearhead innovative, new initiatives, prioritizing global benefits and department-wide growth.

You’ll Spend Your Time:

• Demonstrating profound technical proficiency to shape the trajectory of the entire Snyk stack through strategic technical leadership.
• Cultivating emerging technical talent within Snyk, nurturing the next generation of senior technical leaders.
• Fostering a collaborative environment among senior technical leaders, driving a unified approach towards achieving organizational objectives.
• Maintaining hands-on technical involvement, contributing to critical cross-functional initiatives through coding, design, and operational support as needed.
• Providing data-driven insights to inform and validate critical technical decisions, remaining adaptable to new evidence.
• Effectively communicating technical plans and directives to audiences spanning various levels of seniority within the Engineering/R&D organization and across the broader business landscape.
• Driving execution of large-scale programmes by identifying and addressing cross-functional dependencies and design challenges.

What You’ll Need:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical leadership roles in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proficiency in software development, system architecture, and operational practices.
• Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership and influencing skills to collaborate effectively with senior technical and managerial stakeholders.
• Strong analytical abilities to support technical decisions with data-driven metrics.
• Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven track record of driving consensus among stakeholders while making difficult decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop emerging technical talent.

We’d be Lucky if You:

• Profound understanding of systems of complexity and scale comparable to the Snyk technical stack and their operational nuances.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges across multiple domains.
• Proficiency in data analysis and decision-making to drive technical initiatives.
• Hands-on experience in coding, system design, and operations.
• Knowledge of cutting-edge software development practices and technologies.
