Job summary

Kamsons Pharmacy Middleton is hiring a Dispensing Assistant for a full-time role. You will join a busy team, dispensing prescriptions accurately, ensuring safe medication storage and handling, and supporting patient care with friendly service. Training includes NVQ Level 2 Dispensing Assistant during your progression.

The role involves Monday–Friday 08:30–18:00 (45 hours), working closely with colleagues to supply medications and health advice to the local community.

Qualifications

• Previous Pharmacy experience is preferred but we are willing to train a candidate with the right attitude who is eager to learn and start a career in pharmacy.
• Must be able to work and communicate as part of a team in a busy fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Label and dispense prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
• Ordering sufficient medication and stock to meet customer demand and date/usage checks to maximise availability and minimise waste.
• Create and update patient medication records while protecting data confidentiality.
• Assist with Monitored Dosage System preparation for patients on multiple medications.
• Check patient declarations and send data to NHS to ensure payments.
• Process invoices and paperwork following company procedures.
• Keep dispensary and back shop areas clean and tidy.
• Collaborate with local surgeries and healthcare professionals to handle medication queries.
• Support additional healthcare services as trained.

Middleton – Dispensing Assistant

Kamsons Pharmacy (LS10 3NB) are recruiting for a Dispensing Assistant! We are looking for someone to join our team as a Pharmacy Dispenser and provide the local community with excellent customer and pharmacy services.

Full-time role:

• Monday – Friday 08:30 – 18:00 (hours can be adjusted slightly to suit the correct candidate)
• 45 hours

Previous Pharmacy experience is preferred but we are willing to train a candidate with the right attitude who is eager to learn and start a career in pharmacy. You will be given the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 2 Dispensing Assistant Course as part of your training.

This is a responsible position that requires concentration and a good eye for detail as accuracy is important. You must be able to work and communicate as part of a team in a busy fast paced environment be able to prioritise a varied workload and effectively multi-task.

The job is fast paced- the day really does fly by! You will be involved in different workstreams throughout the day as part of a team to achieve our goal of safely supplying medication, healthcare services and advice to our customers and the local community.

Main roles and responsibilities will include:

• Label and dispense prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
• Ordering sufficient medication and stock in line with company procedures to meet customer demand and date/usage checking to maximise availability and minimise waste.
• Create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Assist where necessary with the preparation of monitored dosage systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes.
• Accurately check patient declarations on prescriptions and send data correctly to the NHS to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses.
• Process invoices and paperwork in a timely manner following company procedures.
• Undertake all necessary housekeeping duties so that dispensary and back shop areas are kept clean and tidy.
• Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
• Liaise with local surgeries and other healthcare professionals and handle queries regarding medication supply to ensure patients with medication and healthcare needs are met.
• Participate in the delivery of any additional healthcare services for which you will have received adequate training.
