What You'll Do
Modbury Health Centre is located in a beautiful small market town with a thriving community centrally located in the heart of the South Devon countryside.

PrimaryResponsibilities
The following are the core responsibilitiesof the Dispenser. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
a.To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed,ensuring there are no discrepancies
b.Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safelyand accurately
c.Collecting prescription charges in accordance withdispensary protocol
d.Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaisingwith the dispensary manager to facilitate reordering
e.Ensuring best value for money by being aware of andmaximising supplier discounts
f.Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with currentpolicy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable
g.Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed with inaccordance with practice policy
h.Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines
i.Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a48-hour timeframe
j.Providing patients with advice regarding all prescriptionmatters
k.Process prescription requests via email, phone, fax,face-to-face and online
m.Assisting the Dispensary Manager in the preparation ofmonthly returns
n.Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at alltimes
o.Maintain accurate records at all times, read codingentries appropriately
SecondaryResponsibilities
Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the dispenser may be requested to:
a.Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
b.Provide guidance for trainee dispensary staff andstudents as necessary
c.Remain current with the latest guidance ensuring thedispensary conforms to NICE, CQC etc guidance

Patients entrust and permit us to collect and retainsensitive information relating to their health and other matters, pertainingto their care. They do so in confidence and have a right to expect all staffwill respect their privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times. It isessential that if, the legal requirements are to be met and the trust of ourpatients is to be retained that all staff protect patient information andprovide a confidential service.
Quality & ContinuousImprovement (CI)
To preserve and improve the quality of ouroutput, all personnel are required to think not only of what they do, but howthey achieve it. By continually re-examining our processes, we will be ableto develop and improve the overall effectiveness of the way we work. Theresponsibility for this rests with everyone working within the practice tolook for opportunities to improve quality and share good practice.
This practice continually strives to improve workprocesses which deliver health care with improved results across all areas ofour service provision. We promote a culture of continuous improvement, whereeveryone counts and staff are permitted to make suggestions and contributionsto improve our service delivery and enhance patient care.
Induction Training
On arrival at thepractice all personnel are to complete a practice induction programme; thisis managed by the Deputy Practice Manager.
Learning and Development
The effective use of training and development isfundamental in ensuring that all staff are equipped with the appropriateskills, knowledge, attitude and competences to perform their role. All staffwill be required to partake and complete mandatory training as directed, aswell as participating in the practice training programme. Staff will also be permitted (subject toapproval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance theirknowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately, enable them toimprove processes and service delivery.
All staff are to recognise the significanceof collaborative working. Teamwork is essential in multidisciplinaryenvironments. Effective communication is essential and all staff must ensurethey communicate in a manner which enables the sharing of information in anappropriate manner.
Service Delivery
Staff at Modbury Health Centre must adhere tothe information contained with practice policies and regional directives,ensuring protocols are adhered to at all times. Staff will be given detailedinformation during the induction process regarding policy and procedure.
Security
The security of the practice is theresponsibility of all personnel. Staff must ensure they remain vigilant atall times and report any suspicious activity immediately to their linemanager. Under no circumstances are staff to share the codes for the doorlocks to anyone and are to ensure that restricted areas remain effectivelysecured.
Professional Conduct
At Modbury Health Centre staff are requiredto dress appropriately for their role. Administrative staff will be providedwith a uniform whilst clinical staff must dress in accordance with theirrole.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
