About the opportunity

As a Dispenser working within one of our stores, you will be a key member of our pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy and healthcare services.

Within the healthcare department, you will build strong relationships with patients by listening and understanding their needs. Your responsibilities include greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the safe sale of medicines, and providing advice to support patients in making informed health decisions. You will make a difference every day.

This role is based in-store within the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered, and applications from outside the UK will only be progressed if relevant UK qualifications and right to work are confirmed and evidenced.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Prescription dispensing while ensuring the safe supply of medicines, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and collection of prescriptions.
  2. Assist in managing and delivering pharmacy services alongside healthcare professionals.
  3. Provide care and advice to patients about medicines and refer queries to the Pharmacist as appropriate.
  4. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support safe and legal dispensing.
  5. Stay up-to-date with new innovations and comply with operational processes.
  6. Support patients in managing their prescriptions and medicines effectively to promote adherence and reduce waste.

As technology evolves, you will have the opportunity to work with new systems that enhance dispensing processes, improving patient safety and allowing more time for patient interaction.

Training and development: You will receive regular updates and training to develop your healthcare knowledge, with career development options including training as a Pharmacy Technician or store leadership team member.

Requirements:

  1. Completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2 (or equivalent) or currently working towards it, with the first year of an MPharm qualification completed.
  2. Current and valid UK right to work. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience working in community pharmacy.

Our benefits include:

  • Discretionary Christmas Gift Payment
  • Generous staff discount
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay and gift card
  • Flexible benefits scheme
  • Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health
