Job description

Overview

First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Dispatch Operative on behalf of one of our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with fragile loads or steel, abnormal length loads, fast-paced loading and unloading (20-30 loads per shift), stock taking, and container loading.

The shifts are either:

  1. A week of mornings (6:00 am – 2:00 pm, Monday – Friday) followed by a week of afternoons (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Monday – Friday) on a rotational basis.
  2. OR a week of afternoons (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Monday – Friday) followed by a week of nights (10:00 pm – 6:00 am, Sunday night – Friday morning) on a rotational basis.

There is a shift uplift when working afternoons & nights:

  • Afternoon - 10% per hour
  • Night Shift - 30% per hour

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load product promptly, communicating relevant information to the Dispatch Team Leader.
  • Liaise with Dispatch Team Leader to organize workload and priorities.
  • Liaise with Production Team Leaders to resolve any issues related to product quality.
  • Load vehicles ensuring zero damage during loading/delivery.
  • Prepare finished goods in accordance with company packaging procedures.
  • Maintain stock levels above minimum quantities.
  • Communicate with haulers regarding deliveries.
  • Take load photos of all products leaving the site.
  • Ensure smooth delivery operations, including collections, customer returns, and adhering to procedures, flagging issues to the Dispatch Team Leader.
  • Make recommendations to improve performance and procedures.
  • Manage yard operations by allocating finished goods to correct locations and updating systems accurately and promptly.
  • Keep the yard free of debris.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by your manager or Team Leader.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • RTITB Forklift licence (Desirable).
  • Combilift license (Desirable).
  • Understanding of Dispatch processes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (desirable).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Prioritization skills.
  • Experience with computer systems, emails, logging paperwork, SAP knowledge (desirable).
