Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking two Disclosure Coordinators to join our Information Governance team. You will support complex disclosure and investigation programmes, ensuring sensitive patient and corporate information is identified, validated and disclosed in line with legal and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with Information Governance, Health Records, Digital teams and Legal Services, you will help maintain confidentiality, accuracy and timely responses

Qualifications

  • Experience within Information Governance, Health Records, NHS administration or similar.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and records systems.
  • Commitment to information security and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, collate, validate and securely disclose patient and corporate records.
  • Analyse information from multiple sources for completeness and suitability for disclosure.
  • Maintain detailed audit trails, disclosure logs and tracking systems.
  • Liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams to coordinate information responses.
  • Apply specialist knowledge of information governance and confidentiality.

We are looking for two Disclosure Coordinators to join our Information Governance team and support the delivery of complex disclosure and investigation programmes. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring sensitive patient and corporate information is identified, validated, quality assured and disclosed in accordance with legal, regulatory, and organisational requirements.

Working closely with Information Governance, clinical services, Health Records, Digital teams, Legal Services and other key stakeholders, you will help ensure information is managed with the highest standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism.

This vacancy is advertised as a time-limited opportunity is expected to be undertaken on a secondment basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Experience/ Qualifications
  • Educated to A-Level/NVQ Level 4 standard or equivalent experience gained within Information Governance, Health Records, Legal Services or NHS administration.
  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge of: • UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. • Common Law Duty of Confidentiality. • NHS Records Management Code of Practice. • Information Governance and information security standards. • Disclosure and redaction principles. • Patient record management and healthcare information systems.
  • Understanding of statutory investigations, inquiries and regulatory information requests and the standards required for evidential record handling.
  • Knowledge of audit trail requirements and quality assurance processes associated with disclosure activities.
  • Understanding of the consequences of information governance breaches and inappropriate disclosure.
  • Information Governance Practitioner qualification, Records Management qualification, Freedom of Information qualification or equivalent specialist training.
  • Knowledge of disclosure requirements relating to independent investigations, coronial processes, legal proceedings or public inquiries
Skills
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to gather, collate, validate and manage large volumes of information. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately. Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of records management, redaction or disclosure processes. Advanced Excel skills
