Job description

Role profile

Osborne Clarke is seeking to expand its team with an exciting opportunity for an IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Manager in our Bristol or London office.

This role involves leading and managing IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives to safeguard our IT services and data. You will be responsible for developing and enhancing our DR/BCP capabilities, overseeing comprehensive testing schedules to mitigate IT security risks.

This is a 10-month fixed-term contract with hybrid working arrangements.

The role

The IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Manager will set the strategic direction for DR/BCP initiatives, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment, and ensuring strategies align with organizational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. DR/BCP Embedding: Developing and implementing strategies to embed DR/BCP processes into the IT organization, ensuring team training and preparedness.
  2. Test Schedule Management: Creating, managing, and executing detailed test schedules, including drills and simulations.
  3. Risk Assessment: Conducting risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities, and developing mitigation plans.
  4. Policy Development: Developing, updating, and maintaining DR/BCP policies in line with industry standards.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure support and alignment for DR/BCP initiatives.
  6. Reporting: Providing regular updates to senior management on progress and testing outcomes.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements in DR/BCP processes.
We are looking for
  • Experience in IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Proven project management skills within an IT environment.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud, and applications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CBCP or DRII.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards related to disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Proficiency with DR and BCP software/tools.
  • Experience reviewing SaaS agreements and SLAs.
  • Ability to produce GAP analyses, summaries, and recommendations.
  • Experience defining RACI matrices for BC/DR plans.
  • Experience creating disaster recovery runbooks.
