Job Title: Disability Support Teaching Assistant SEN Schools
Location: Eastbourne
Salary: GBP90 - GBP110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Do you have experience supporting children or young people with disabilities?
GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and confident Disability Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Eastbourne. This is a hands-on role working with pupils who have a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, autism, and communication challenges.

About the Role:
You ll work closely with teaching staff to support individual pupils in accessing learning, building independence, and feeling safe and supported in school. Your day will involve a mix of practical care, communication support, and classroom assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with physical or learning disabilities

  • Support mobility, personal care and emotional wellbeing (training provided)

  • Use visuals, routines, and communication aids such as PECS or Makaton

  • Assist with daily tasks and learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to ensure the best outcomes for every child

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with disabilities (school, care, or youth settings)

  • A calm, reliable, and empathetic approach

  • Flexibility and confidence working in a team

  • A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
