Job Title: Disability Support Assistant

Salary Range: £90-£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate start
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Assistant to work in a Primary School in Uckfield, with a daily pay rate of £90–£110, depending on experience.

Role Overview:

As a Disability Support Assistant, you will provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. You will play a key role in promoting access to learning, encouraging independence, and creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to pupils with disabilities, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Support the implementation of individual education and care plans (EHCPs).
  • Foster a nurturing environment that promotes inclusion, wellbeing, and academic progress.
  • Provide mobility and personal care assistance when required.
  • Monitor pupil progress and behaviour, reporting to class teachers and SENCOs.
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, external therapists, and families to ensure consistent support.

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience supporting children with disabilities or additional needs in a school or care setting.
  • Knowledge of strategies to assist children with mobility challenges, sensory impairments, or learning difficulties.
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to care and behaviour management.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Moving & Handling, Manual Handling training) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
