Disability Services Manager

We are seeking to appoint a Disability Services Manager with a strong commitment to providing high quality information, advice and guidance to disabled students, and to inclusive practice in higher education.

Disability Services provide information, advice and guidance for disabled students and the staff who teach them, ensuring students have access to the support they need to be successful in their studies. This includes advising on reasonable adjustments, assistive technology, Disabled Students Allowance, and providing pre-entry advice and transition support.

The role

We are seeking to appoint a Disability Services Manager with a strong commitment to providing high quality information, advice and guidance to disabled students, and to inclusive practice in higher education.

Disability Services provide information, advice and guidance for disabled students and staff, and ensure students have access to the necessary support to succeed academically. Responsibilities include advising on reasonable adjustments, assistive technology, Disabled Students Allowance, and supporting pre-entry and transition processes.

What will you be doing?

The Disability Services Manager will provide operational leadership for Disability Services, ensuring high standards of service for students, offer holders, and colleagues, with a focus on educational experience and success of disabled students.

You will support team leaders and advisers in managing complex or high-risk student cases, and offer advice and support to staff to improve their effectiveness and develop their skills.

You will provide specialist disability-related advice to the University, advising on policy, regulations, legislation, and compliance issues.

Building positive relationships with academic and professional colleagues within the University, as well as external partners and networks, will be essential.

Qualifications and qualities

You should apply if you are passionate about leading a service that makes a difference to disabled students and ensures their success.

You are a strong relationship builder with substantial experience and knowledge of issues affecting disabled students in higher education. Experience managing complex cases, including risk management, and an evidence-led approach to service design and delivery, would be advantageous.
