Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a capable administrator to provide high quality business and operational support to the division. The role involves developing a robust secretariat service, budget monitoring, and producing detailed performance reports.

This fixed-term post runs for 6 months and requires line-manager approval for secondment where applicable. You will lead with initiative, demonstrate CPD, and work to improve delivery of clinical services through effective administration and governance

Qualifications

  • Degree level in business management or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate expertise in business/operational management or health service area.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Leadership to manage service delivery and motivate others.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust administration system to support the operational management of a clinical sub division.
  • Plan, control and manage budgets on a month-to-month basis and identify cost pressures.
  • Produce detailed reports on patient activity, revenue, waiting times and workforce use.
  • Authorise travel claims, duty sheets, stationery and HR forms for A&C staff.

The Role

To provide high quality business and operational service support to the Division and contribute to the implementation of strategy ensuring opportunities for continuous development and improvement of services are appropriately considered and pursued to facilitate the delivery of clinical services.


Please note this is a fixed term post for 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.


In this key role, you will:



  • Develop a robust administration system to ensure the provision of an effective secretariat service to support the operational management of a clinical sub division and facilitate effective lines of communication.

  • Responsible for planning, controlling and managing the A. & C. and supplies budgets on a month to month basis, ensuring that the finance remains within the agreed resources, and identifying cost pressures within the department.

  • Produce detailed reports on key quantitative targets such as patient activity, revenue budgets, waiting times and workforce use to enable trends to be identified and investigated.

  • Authorised signatory for travel claims, duty sheets, stationery and all HR forms pertaining to A.&C staff.



What You\'ll Bring


  • Educated to degree level in business management or equivalent knowledge and demonstrable experience

  • Post graduate expertise within a business management / operational management or health service area that demonstrates the required expert breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently

  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development

  • Effective leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery and demonstrate the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
